China International Communications Group
China International Communications Group (ClCG) is an organization affiliated to the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), specializing in international communication. lts predecessor was the Bureau of International Press of the General Administration of Press of the Central People's Government of the People's Republic of China, founded in October 1949 under the care and direct leadership of Mao Zedong, Zhou Enlai, Chen Yi and other proletarian revolutionaries of the older generation.
ClCG has 21 affiliated organizations, with 26 overseas offices in 14 countries and regions. lt also supervises two national social organizations. lt annually publishes some 3,000 books in 40-plus languages and 36 periodicals in 14 languages, which are distributed in more than 180 countries and regions. Its websites and social media channels enjoy a global reach.
Over the past 70 years since its founding, ClCG has introduced China's development and changes to the world, promoted friendly exchanges between China and other countries, and played an important role in telling China's stories and spreading China's voice.
On September 4, 2019, President Xi Jinping, in a congratulatory letter marking the 70th anniversary of ClCG, recognized its contributions to international communication and set the ambitious goal of transforming ClCG into "a world-class, comprehensive international communication institution”.
Xufang International Media
Xufang International Media, founded in 2011 as a subsidiary directly under CICG, is committed to the planning, creation and international communication of multilingual mobile media and social media visual products. It also provides new media-based solutions for local governments in China to enhance international communication and for Chinese businesses to “go global”.
Xufang International Media’s services covers short video planning and production, the application of new technologies such as animation, virtual reality (VR), and augmented reality (AR), as well as activities involving Chinese and foreign vloggers and youths, international media cooperation and communication, social platform account operation, theme event planning, training on international communication, etc.
Aiming to promote “new media and new international communication,” Xufang International Media has developed two digital media brands: China Matters and My China Story. To date, these brands have produced over 1,500 original short video products, with influential works recognized by the China Journalism Award for three consecutive years. China Matters boasts approximately 9.4 million followers on overseas platforms like Facebook, alongside nearly 2 million followers on domestic platforms.
Xufang has established stable partnerships with over 100 national news agencies, more than 50 major newspapers and more than 20 TV stations around the world, and has forged a global social media platform cooperation and communication network covering 80% of top foreign short video creators. The organization serves a diverse range of clients, including local governments in Beijing, Tianjin, Chongqing, Shandong, Guangdong, Zhejiang, Henan, Sichuan, Guizhou, and Yunnan; large-scale international events such as the China International Import Expo, Biodiversity Conference, World Intelligence Congress, and China-CEEC Expo; as well as major Central State-owned enterprises such as China National Nuclear Corporation, SDIC Group, Sinomach, CHN Energy, and China Nonferrous Metal Mining (Group).
